internal tension

A tensile force acts on the body shown in Figure 1-7, which results tensile stress. Under stress, internal forces are awakened in the body. Their direction is the same as the load force, but their meaning is opposite. The forces form a parallel force system, consisting of equal magnitude components, the resultant maintains a balance with the external force. Tension in the body is caused by internal forces.
